SAPRA has set out the following process that is used by the Town Planning Committee in its deliberations.
(This is a guideline and SAPRA will endeavour to follow this process where ever possible. However, particular circumstances may result in deviations from this process.)
- SAPRA is informed, or gets to know, about an Application for town planning. This could either be from the SAPRA Town Planning Consultant, SAPRA's City Councillor or from a SAPRAland resident. This information must be passed on to the chair of the Town Planning Sub Committee (TP), preferably by email: townplanning@sapra.org.za (Estimated time: 3 working days).
- If enough information is available, this will be placed on the SAPRA website. (Estimated time: 7 working days)
- A summary giving the salient points is sent to the TP, with a comment if necessary, asking for input within 3 days. (Estimated time: 4 working days).
- Depending on the input from the TP, a further summary is sent out on the SAPRA Community WhatsApp asking for input/comments, within 5 days.(Estimated time: 7 working days).
- Either no action is taken or, if an Objection is suggested, contact is taken up with SAPRA's Town Planning Consultant.(Estimated time: 7 working days).
- Whenever possible, SAPRA will consider the matter and if necessary formulate an Objection. This will be confirmed with the Town Planning Consultant.(Estimated time: 7 working days).
- The website will be updated with the Objection. (Estimated time: 7 working days).
- Residents will be given an update, and if an Objection is to be made by SAPRA, they are encouraged to submit their own Objection.(Estimated time: 7 working days).
