Established in 1997 under the existing CPF and leadership of Erica le Gassick.
Functioned effectively with 8 members until 2004. Then the Unit was forced into making a decision about where its allegiances lay when the then CPF and most of the VSU members resigned in protest over the dismissal of the Station Commissioner, Ian Loubser.
A handful of VSU members did not resign then because we felt that our goal was to serve the community of Parkview Precinct regardless of who occupied the position of Station Commissioner. We thus undertook to continue our function as before and are still run according to the original mandate, but as a completely autonomous unit.
The Unit reports directly to the Station Commissioner, currently S/Supt Nanda Moodley and has a good and stable relationship with the current CPF.
